Lamine Yamal, Aitana Bonmatí, and the Barça Women's Team Nominated for the Laureus Awards
The Laureus Awards 2025 reveal their nominees: surprises and stars!
The FC Barcelona is once again present in the spotlight offered by the nominations for the sports awards given each year. This time, Aitana Bonmatí, the Barça women's team, and Lamine Yamal have been nominated in different categories of the Laureus Awards, presented by the Laureus World Sports Academy.
The quality of the players of Barça continues to pave the way for appearances at the most important award ceremonies in sports. Aitana, who already knows what it is like to attend to receive this award, will be accompanied this time by the young blue-and-red star Lamine Yamal, a star who shines brighter and brighter, illuminating the planet of football.
Lamine Yamal, Breakthrough Athlete of the Year
The '19' of Barça, despite his young age, always finds a way to sneak in, whether on the field or in award nominations. At 17 years old, this is the first time the left winger will be present at the gala for these awards.
He carries plenty of reasons on his shoulders to take home the laurel, as Lamine was a key part in helping the Spanish National Team win the Euro 2024, held in Germany.
On that occasion, in addition to dazzling with his talent and versatility on the field, he managed to score a goal and provide four assists in seven matches, meaning he participated in 5 goals of the 'Euro'.
It is worth remembering that Lamine Yamal also crowned himself with the Golden Boy and the Kopa Trophy, and shattered an endless list of records.
Aitana Bonmatí, Best Female Athlete of the Year
The Barça player is nominated in the category of Best Female Athlete of the Year. She won this award last year, which is not new for a footballer who demonstrates her passion for the blue-and-red colors every year and has more than enough merits to win again.
The Catalan player lifted the UEFA Women's Nations League with the Spanish National Team in the 2023-24 season, as well as the League, Champions League, Copa de la Reina, and Supercopa de España with a Barça women's team that is champion of everything and nominated in the category of "Best Team of the Year".
