September 20th is a date marked on the calendars of football and video game fans. Why? Well, on that date, FC 25 will be released, the thirty-second installment of the electronic game franchise by EA Sports, formerly known as FIFA. As usual, in the days leading up to the game's release, the official player ratings start to leak, sparking debate about whether these ratings are accurate for the players.
At this point, the player with the highest rating for FC Barcelona in the entire game is the German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, who will have a rating of 89 in FC 25, the same as in FC 24. With this, 'MATS' once again positions himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the game alongside Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain/Italy), Alisson Becker (Liverpool/Brazil), and Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid/Belgium).
Marc-André ter Stegen and Robert Lewandowski, the highest-rated players in FC Barcelona in FC 25
In this regard, it is important to mention that despite remaining one of the best at Barça, Robert Lewandowski, who now has a rating of 88, suffered a -2 downgrade compared to FC 24, where he had a rating of 90, being the Barça player who experienced the greatest decline in this aspect.
Following 'Lewy', in terms of overall ratings, are midfielders Frenkie de Jong (87) and Pedri González (86), players who, compared to their cards in FC 24, have not seen any changes in their ratings. This is unlike what has happened, for example, with Ronald Araújo, who will have a rating of 85 in this FC 25, one point lower than in FC 24, the same rating as French defender Jules Koundé (85).
Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Fermín López, debutants in Ultimate Team
In this aspect, FC Barcelona will introduce for the first time in Ultimate Team Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Fermín López, players who, despite having had an interesting 2023/24 season rising to stardom, have sparked debates about their ratings and whether they correspond to reality. For example, Pau Cubarsi will have a mere 72 rating on his first card.
Furthermore, social media has been shocked by a particular statistic of the '2' of the Barcelona team, having only 58 for passing. A defender known for precise passing and building from the back. Cubarsi only improves by six points compared to his rating in FC 24.
Regarding Lamine Yamal, he has experienced an increase in his rating, now at 81 in FC 25, compared to FC 24. However, the debate has definitely opened up about whether the rating of the Barça gem should be higher. To put this in perspective, his rating is three points lower than that of Raphinha (84) and significantly far from the 91 or 90 of Kylian Mbappé and 'Vini Jr.'.
Finally, another debutant will be Fermín López. The Huelva native will be a non-shiny gold card with a rating of 76, five points higher than the previous season. Below is the list of the 22 culés who will appear in FC 25 and their respective rating changes compared to FC 24.
