As part of the celebration of its 495th edition, the 'CIES Football Observatory' has produced a report presenting the players with the best offensive performance in the world. This ranking is based on three statistical facets of the game: reception, chance creation, and finishing, and only includes players who have played at least 1,080 minutes in their national league this season.

The ranking starts with a surprise, as Michael Olise, a recent signing for Bayern Munich, tops the list. The French forward has an average score of 88.5 (out of 100) across the three areas measured and has a maximum value of 99 in chance creation, which is the quality that stands out the most in his game.

Behind the Bavarian winger is Lamine Yamal, who is the youngest player in the ranking. The star of FC Barcelona has an average of 87.7 and, like Olise, stands out for his ability to create chances. His ease in generating danger, combined with his great vision of the game and good footwork, makes him a real threat in the final third of the field, as reflected in the ranking. The 'top 5' is rounded out by other stars like Florian Wirtz (85), Vinicius Junior (84.2), and Ousmane Dembélé (83.6).

Raphinha also makes the list

In addition to Lamine, Raphinha is the other Barça player included in the list compiled by CIES. The Brazilian ranks 19th with an index of 79.3, although this statistic does not reflect how crucial the '11' is to Hansi Flick's team, where he has contributed the most goals and assists this season (45).

Similarly, other figures from LaLiga such as Kylian Mbappé, Álex Baena, Iago Aspas, Nico Williams, and Bryan Zaragoza are also part of the ranking, although the appearance of Javi Ontiveros from Cádiz is particularly surprising, being one of the few players from a national second division.
