At 35 years old, Robert Lewandowski is more than ready for another season playing at the highest level in Europe. The Polish striker scored twice in FC Barcelona's last game in the United States, in the 2-2 (4-3) defeat to AC Milan and left good feelings for the 2024/25 campaign.
The former Bayern Munich player was, along with Christensen, the first international to join the team's dynamic after falling in the group stage of the European Championship. The attacker was included in Hansi Flick's list for the tour on North American soil and did not find the net against Manchester City and Real Madrid. However, he was quick to do so against the Italians, where he beat Torriani with a great shot from the edge of the box in the first half. In the second half, he equalised after finishing on goal thanks to a great assist from Pau Víctor.
Lewandowski expects a great season
After his brace and with the award for best player of the match under his belt, Lewandowski spoke to 'Bild' and reviewed how his first weeks working with Flick have been, with whom he already shared and won the sixth with the Bavarian team: "I am very happy and satisfied to be working with Hansi again. I think we will have a great season and we will end up having a trophy in our hands."
Finally, he stressed that Barça players do not have to be complacent and must always have the desire to want more, as the club's philosophy dictates: "We must not stop attacking after winning 1-0, but continue to put on a show. Because that is the DNA of this club. And Hansi fits very well with that DNA with his offensive approach." Without a doubt, an interesting season is coming in Barcelona.
