Barça would have Dani Olmo available against Valencia. The Egarense is training normally and is set to be included in the squad for the quarter-final match of the Cup
The FC Barcelona returned to activity this Tuesday morning after the day off granted by Hansi Flick on Monday, and it did so with a significant update. Dani Olmo participated in part of the session with his teammates and is nearing the final stages of recovery from the overload in the soleus of his right leg that has kept him sidelined since January 19.
The Egarense has been absent in the last four matches, two from LaLiga (Valencia and Alavés) and two from the Champions League (Benfica and Atalanta), but after what was seen on February 4 at the Camp Tito Vilanova of the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, everything indicates that the player will be available for the quarter-final match of the Copa del Rey against Valencia next Thursday.
According to 'SPORT', Olmo was already fit to play against Alavés, but Flick chose not to take any risks and postponed his return. However, the positive feelings from the last training sessions suggest that the player will receive medical clearance in the coming days and could be included in the Barça squad for their visit to Mestalla. Although he may not start, he could serve as a substitute in the second half if the match allows.
Gavi Remains on the Sidelines
Meanwhile, Gavi did not participate in the first session of the week while recovers from the traumatic brain injury suffered last weekend. Although medical tests ruled out any serious issues, the Andalusian trained separately from the group and did gym work as part of his 'evolution control'.
Gavi's presence in Valencia is not guaranteed, and there is a possibility that he may have to wait until the weekend to return to the pitch. The player has been indispensable for Flick in 2025, but his physical setback requires as much caution as possible, and the club will not rush his return to the first team.
