The Barcelona player has intensified his recovery with the aim of being able to play in the final stretch of the Blaugrana team's season.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Marc Casadó is working with the goal of being able to play in the last two matchdays of LaLiga - against Villarreal at Montjuïc and against Athletic at San Mamés - and a possible Champions League final with the Azulgrana club.

The FC Barcelona midfielder suffered a partial tear in the external lateral ligament of his right knee on March 16 during a match against Atlético de Madrid. Although initially a more serious injury was feared, the final diagnosis allowed hope to be maintained for a recovery before the end of the season.

Current status of Marc Casadó recovery and possible return

Currently, Marc Casadó has already started doing light work on the field and his progress is positive. The player and the coaching staff maintain a policy of caution and will not force his return, but if the recovery continues to progress, his goal is to be available for the last two matchdays of LaLiga, as well as for a hypothetical Champions League final on May 31 in Munich, if Barça manages to qualify.

Recovery timelines for Marc Casadó

  • 1. In the first weeks after the injury, Casadó kept his knee immobilized with a splint and did physiotherapy and strengthening work off the field.

  • 2. Currently, a month after the injury, he has already started doing light work on the field, focused on physical readaptation and the recovery of mobility and strength in the knee.

  • 3. The plan contemplates that, if the evolution continues to be positive and without relapses, Casadó will progressively increase the load of physical work and specific football exercises during the next weeks, always under medical supervision and without assuming unnecessary risks.

  • 4. The motto of the club and the player himself is absolute caution: his return will not be forced ahead of time, prioritizing total recovery before rejoining the competition.

  • For now, Casadó is still out and is not available for the next matchdays, but his return is estimated for mid or late May, depending on his evolution and without assuming unnecessary risks.

The Barça '17' avoided surgery

Despite the initial pessimistic scenario about the option that Marc Casadó would miss the rest of the 2024-25 season, the forecasts have been more encouraging than expected.

FC Barcelona announced that, after new examinations, the midfielder was suffering a partial tear of the lateral collateral ligament of his right knee. A setback whose scope was not the most serious in its category, therefore, it was not necessary to undergo surgery, since there was no total rupture of ligaments.

This was the FC Barcelona medical statement about Marc Casadó

"This morning, more tests have been carried out on first team player 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐝𝐨́ and it has been confirmed that he suffers a partial tear of the external lateral ligament of his right knee. The player will follow a conservative treatment and the approximate time of absence is around two months"
