Bad news for FC Barcelona. Once again, the 'ghost' of injuries strikes one of the assets of the team. This time, the affected player is Ansu Fati, who has struggled to maintain consistency in this new phase wearing the Barcelona jersey.
Barcelona has used its various social media channels to announce, through a statement, that Ansu Fati suffered an injury to the hamstring of his right thigh during training on Wednesday. As a result of this physical setback, the Barcelona club has stated that the young player will be sidelined for approximately four weeks. Therefore, his return is not expected until mid-December.
Under this circumstance, Ansu Fati is set to miss approximately six matches with Barcelona: four in LaLiga EA Sports against Celta de Vigo (11/23), UD Las Palmas (11/30), RCD Mallorca (12/03), and Real Betis (12/07); and two in the UEFA Champions League against Stade Brestois (11/26) and Borussia Dortmund (12/11), with his return scheduled for the match against Leganés (12/15).
Ansu Fati continues to endure a 'calvary' with injuries
It is worth noting that this physical setback is the second one that Ansu Fati has faced in the 2024-25 season. The forward began the season with an injury to the sole of his right foot, which he sustained in mid-July, keeping him out of action with the Barcelona team for approximately two months, missing around five matches.
Furthermore, this is not the first time he has suffered a hamstring injury. Previously, during the 2021-22 season, Ansu Fati had a setback in that same area, but in his left leg (on 11/06/2021 in the match between Barcelona and Celta de Vigo in LaLiga), causing him to miss around 65 days of action. Interestingly, after recovering from that physical setback suffered against Celta, upon his return to action, he faced another injury in this area of his body (01/21/2022 in the match between Barça and Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey), causing him to miss another 65 days of activity.
Now, it remains to be seen how Ansu Fati will return from this new injury that comes at a particularly inconvenient time. Currently, in the 2024-25 season, the forward has not yet accumulated goals or assists in seven matches (125 minutes), and was beginning to face more criticism for the impressions he was leaving on the field, a situation that he will not be able to rectify for the time being.
