It's official now! After many rumors and speculation, FC Barcelona has managed to register its star signing, Dani Olmo. After several days of waiting, he will finally be able to fulfill his desire to debut with the Barça team's shirt

The 'soap opera' is over! Finally, FC Barcelona has been able to register Dani Olmo as their player in LaLiga. The player from Terrassa, who will wear the number 20 shirt, after missing two matches in the local competition against Valencia CF (1-2) and Athletic Club (2-1), will now be available for German coach Hansi Flick, to include him in the starting eleven from the upcoming match of matchday three of LaLiga EA Sports on this Tuesday, August 27, against Rayo Vallecano.

Barcelona has made a series of strategic moves in the last few days to bring this registration to a successful conclusion. The first of these, perhaps the most significant for the Culés, was the unexpected departure of İlkay Gündoğan as a free agent. Although this action did not generate transfer revenue, it was a positive move in terms of salary savings, considering that the German was earning around €18.7 million gross per season (€9 million net).

In this journey, another piece that Barcelona moved was the transfer of Mika Faye to Stade Rennais in Ligue 1 for around €10.3 million, marking their best sale so far this summer. In this transfer, the Barcelona team retained a buy-back clause for €25 million and 30% of any future sale of the Senegalese player. It is worth noting that although this move has been important for Barcelona to operate under the 1/1 rule, it did not directly contribute to Olmo's registration, as Sédhiou's native was not registered in LaLiga, so his sale did not count towards this purpose, nor did the loan of Vitor Roque to Real Betis.

On the other hand, the loan of Clément Lenglet to Atlético Madrid has been a real relief for the Catalan team. Although they do not save the entirety of the French defender's huge salary, they do save a significant portion, freeing up another part of the team's salary scale. With his contract extension (from 2026 to 2027) to redistribute amounts and make his loan more attractive, Beauvais now earns around €10.6 million gross per season (€5.3 million net), a sum from which Barcelona will be saving a high percentage and which has contributed to finally completing Olmo's registration.

The Injury of Andreas Christensen, Key in Dani Olmo's Registration

Now, the move that has been the final blow to secure the much-desired registration of the Egarense as a player for FC Barcelona has been primarily linked to an unfortunate event: Andreas Christensen's injury. The Dane is suffering from tendinopathy in the Achilles tendon, of which the LaLiga medical tribunal has certified could keep him out for at least about four months. In response to this situation, the Azulgrana team has invoked Article 77 of the Economic Control Regulations of the league, which allows a player to be registered by occupying up to 80% of another player's salary space, provided that the latter is going through a long-term injury and the registration is requested within 20 days from the injury date. This measure has proven pivotal for Hansi Flick to now have the player from Terrassa.
