The president of the CSD, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, anticipates a ruling that could change the course of the 'Olmo case'
FC Barcelona will receive in the coming days the final ruling from the Superior Sports Council (CSD) regarding the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. The president of the Spanish body, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes, referred again to the controversy over the precautionary measure granted in favor of Barça in January, which allowed the azulgrana team to recover the federal licenses of both players for the second half of the 2024-25 season, a measure valid for a period of three months.
According to Rodríguez, he is "very proud" of the decision made by the CSD and the final ruling should be issued soon, even before the maximum deadline set for it (three months). "What has happened here is a discrepancy, a disagreement, a conflict, call it what you want, between FC Barcelona, LaLiga, and the Federation and we, as the Superior Sports Council, feel obligated, according to the Sports Law that states that athletes must always be protected, to ensure that the footballers are not harmed by that conflict," he explained.
Moreover, he added that both Real Madrid and 80-90% of Spanish clubs respected the precautionary measure, while other versions, like those of Javier Tebas, "present a world upside down." "The footballer has the right for his professional career to develop normally and it is a precedent that we will apply to any other situation, in any other sport," emphasized the president of the CSD.
The registration of Dani Olmo has already been secured by the RFEF
In any case, as we mentioned a few days ago in FCBN, the registration of Dani Olmo no longer admits any legal argument from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) or LaLiga. The midfielder played 24 minutes on Thursday in Rotterdam with Spain against the Netherlands (2-2) and will add more minutes on Sunday in the quarter-final return match to be held at Mestalla.
His presence from Terrassa with the National Team could only occur through his registration for the second half of the 24-25 season, as no player can be called up for international matches without having a license to play with their respective club. The Superior Sports Council has until April 7 to issue its final ruling, the date on which the three-month deadline set by the Sports Law for these cases expires.
