The FC Barcelona has had an exceptional start to the year 2025 regarding renewals. The blue and claret team, through their sporting director, Deco, made it clear at the time that, although they would not make signings in the winter market, they would focus on finalizing several contract extensions.

In this regard, the FC Barcelona has kept its word, as in 2025 the Catalan team has secured a total of five renewals: Ronald Araujo (until 2031), Gerard Martín (until 2028), Pedri González (until 2030), Gavi (until 2030), and more recently Pau Cubarsí (until 2029). Most of them had contracts that were set to expire in 2026.

With this in mind, it is not surprising that once this wave of renewals is completed, the FC Barcelona, awaiting to know the future of players like Iñigo Martínez, Robert Lewandowski and Frenkie de Jong, begins to focus on players whose contracts expire in 2027, a date that may seem distant, but which the Catalan team is addressing with anticipation.

Barcelona Does Not Neglect the Renewal of Jules Koundé

Talk has begun, for example, about the renewal of Raphinha, which could presumably take place soon, with a contract that would keep him at the club until 2029. At the same time, recently Deco has highlighted the importance of another asset whose contract expires in 2027: Jules Koundé.

In an interview with the media outlet 'SPORT', the Portuguese sporting director admitted that the contract extension for the current right-back will come at the right time. "Koundé is fundamental to our project. He has a contract until 2027 and, when the time comes, we will talk about his renewal", he stated.

This is not surprising at all, as Jules Koundé has become a key player in the 2024-25 season. Despite being a defender by profession, the Frenchman has adapted to the right-back position full-time, excelling exceptionally and solving a problem that FC Barcelona had been facing for some time in the search for a 'top' right-back. The Parisian has shown himself to be a solid player in defense and increasingly effective in his offensive incursions.
