FC Barcelona is analyzing the options for Pablo Torre's future
One of the players who has faced the most challenges in showcasing his game at FC Barcelona is the 21-year-old midfielder, Pablo Torre. This is not due to any shortcomings in his sporting level, as the Cantabrian has shown great responsiveness when Hansi Flick decides to give him playing time.
However, unfortunately for him, this is not the case for FC Barcelona. Pablo Torre has to deal with the fact that in the area of the pitch where he usually operates, in the attacking midfielder position, the culé team has a wealth of talent. Players like Dani Olmo and Fermín López, and even Gavi, who can also play in that area, are ahead of him. This makes it extremely difficult for him to see playing time with any regularity.
In fact, currently, Pablo Torre has fallen into a sort of ostracism at the azulgrana club, as he has not seen playing time since January 26, when he played 12 minutes in the Catalan team's victory against Valencia CF (7-1) in LaLiga EA Sports (matchday 21). Since then, 11 matches have passed in which the former player of Racing de Santander has had to watch from the substitutes' bench, and even some from the stands as he was not called up.
Barcelona does not rule out extending Pablo Torre's contract soon
However, this does not mean that FC Barcelona does not consider him for the future, given that he has a contract with the institution until June 30, 2026. So much so that, according to the sports newspaper 'SPORT', the Barcelona team has expressed its desire to extend the player's contract for at least one more year. This is a case that Deco would like to resolve before June, speaking openly with the '14' and his entourage to find the best solution for all parties.
Furthermore, according to the same source, it is expected that once this contract extension is finalized, Pablo Torre could be loaned to another club to have more opportunities to showcase his sporting abilities and increase his value. This would be with the option to return to FC Barcelona in the future, specifically in 2026.
The sale of the Cantabrian is also not an unthinkable scenario
In this regard, it is also asserted that if Pablo Torre decides not to accept the extension of his link with the Catalan team, those from the City of Condal will take advantage of the upcoming summer transfer market to seek a definitive exit for him. This is because, despite not having had many minutes in the Barcelona team, his innate quality has attracted several suitors who are closely monitoring his situation and could be interested in a transfer.
The FC Barcelona would like to recover the investment made at the time for the player from Soto de la Marina. It is worth recalling that the talented attacking midfielder was signed by the culés from Racing de Santander in 2022 for €5 million.
Now we will have to wait to see how this case develops. Although everything seems to indicate that the midfielder is willing to stay at FC Barcelona, as long as his role in the sports project and in the team is clarified, it is evident that if he does not receive too many playing opportunities and an attractive enough offer comes in, both economically and sportingly, he might consider a change.
What if Barça ends up parting ways with Pablo Torre?
This alternative would not be far-fetched, as the Catalan team, as it has done on previous occasions, could opt to sell the player while retaining certain rights over him for a possible future sale or even a buy-back option. These are all possible scenarios to take advantage of a player who has much to offer, as he demonstrates every time Hansi Flick gives him the opportunity to play, needing little time to make a difference.
