Pau Cubarsí showed his most ambitious side: can Barça aim for the treble this season?
Pau Cubarsí is focused with the Spanish National Team during what could be the FIFA date when he could secure a spot in Luis de la Fuente's starting eleven, as the national team arrives with several notable absences in central defense. Awaiting the match against the Netherlands next Thursday, in which he has a good chance of starting, the FC Barcelona star gave an interview to 'Catalunya Ràdio' where, among other topics, he 'spoke out' about the dream of the treble for the culés.
"I am at a very good level, I try to rest after matches to recover as much as possible. It helps to be 18 years old to recover, but that’s what you have to focus on, recovering", explained the player about his physical condition, as he is one of the players who has played the most minutes this season under Hansi Flick.
Regarding the German coach, the youth player stated that "he is a great coach who helps young players to the maximum because we have room for improvement. He encourages us if things don’t go well. On the field, he lets us play, we have four keys to play the match, but football is a game of mistakes and when you make one, you have to forget it and learn from what you did wrong".
Pau Cubarsí believes in Barça's treble
The blaugrana team has made a radical change this season, and for Cubarsí the key is "the mentality, it is very important. Last year we didn’t have this winning mentality, the players are almost the same, but the mentality has changed quite a bit".
In that sense, Cubarsí, who revealed that his first football memory is the 2015 Champions League final in which Barça won against Juventus in Berlin, was cautious when 'speaking out' about the possibility of the culés achieving another treble this season, but made it clear that confidence is at its peak. "Little by little, with our feet on the ground, but let’s hope so".
One of the pillars of this new Barça with a champion's spirit and dreaming of the treble is Lamine Yamal, about whom Pau commented that "on the field he is a magnificent player. You can never predict what he does on the field, he can come from anywhere, I have experienced it in training and I still enjoy it, he can win a match in four actions".
"We go with the mentality of aspiring to all titles, we have a great level and energy to aim for everything"
Finally, the center-back expressed maximum ambition for the upcoming months of competition, stating emphatically that "we will try to win as many titles as possible, but we will take it one game at a time, now we need to win almost all because we are in the important stretch of the season. From the start, we go with the mentality of aspiring to all titles, we have a great level and energy to aim for everything".
