Pau Cubarsí turns 18 and issues a challenge: "We will go for the sixth Champions"

It has been a year since Pau Cubarsí burst onto the first team of FC Barcelona with the force of a hurricane. This January 22, the defender turns 18, although his personality makes him seem like a veteran in the blue and garnet defense, where he is becoming increasingly untouchable. The player is a regular for Hansi Flick, an international with Spain and, above all, a very beloved person in the locker room and among the fans.

As part of the celebration of his birthday, the footballer gave an interview to 'Barça One' in which he reflected on his first year in the first team and revealed his goals for what lies ahead. "For my birthday, I ask for health and to win many titles with Barcelona", he began saying to the Catalan club's media.

His first year in the first team

Despite his young age, he is already one of the main figures of Barça, Pau keeps his feet on the ground. "It has been a spectacular year, I hope many more come. Any child would want to be in my place. It’s a dream. I feel privileged", he assured, reaffirming that he still has a long way to go.

His debut and the memory of Xavi

Cubarsí also recalled January 18, 2024, the day he made his debut in the Copa del Rey round of 16 against Unionistas. "I was on the bench, thinking I wasn’t going to play, Andreas got injured and Xavi told me to warm up because he was coming out. I thought, okay, you’re going to debut with the first team", commented the Estanyol native.

The center-back also directed some words to Xavi Hernández and Hansi Flick, his two coaches in the first team. "Xavi is a legend, an ADN Barça. With him, we returned to the club's philosophy. It’s the way I like to play, they have taught me that way", he stated, adding that the German "also has this philosophy, although we are more direct.
