Pedri González seems to have left his injury problems behind. To achieve this, the Canary Islander underwent a genetic study that provided the keys for the footballer to reduce the risk of suffering a physical setback
Pedri González's physical problems seem to be a thing of the past. The midfielder, with the help of FC Barcelona, has found the definitive formula to recover his best level and leave behind his 'ordeal' with injuries, which has punished him excessively in recent seasons. It has to do with a genetic study that the footballer underwent and which would have revealed that he needs to do strength work daily to reduce the risk of suffering muscle setbacks.
Julio Tous, the key to Pedri's recovery
According to what was reported in 'Mundo Deportivo', at Can Barça they launched a plan to optimize the physical condition of the Canary Islander once the 2023/24 season ended, with the aim of reducing the risk of muscle injuries. To do this, Joan Laporta and Deco, with the prior approval of the midfielder, contacted Julio Tous, one of the new people in charge of physical preparation at Barça and a benchmark in his specialty at an international level.
The coach designed a specific plan for the Blaugrana '8', which was based on the exhaustive muscle analysis he requested to study the footballer's muscle fibres and establish the training guidelines that best suited his physique. With this requirement, the player's physical performance will be improved and, as far as possible, the constant injuries that punished the Tenerife native will be prevented.
Pedri had to undergo a biopsy to obtain samples of his fibres...
... which were sent to a reference laboratory for genetic muscular myopathies based in Baltimore (United States) so that Tous could analyse his muscles
After analysing the results, Tous, together with the recovery specialist Raúl Martínez, designed a work plan in which, in addition to training with his teammates...
Pedri does work sessions three times a day at home in his private gym
The aim of the Barça physical trainers is for Tegueste to do an extra load of strength work, which strengthens his physique and serves to avoid various muscular injuries, the player's biggest problem in recent seasons.
Pedri reaps the fruits of his work
The plan is being extremely useful, as has been proven at the start of this campaign. In fact, the player continued to work on his muscles while recovering from the injury suffered at the European Championship due to a tackle by Toni Kroos. Pedri is one of the fundamental pillars of the Barça project, which is why the Catalans invested a great effort to help the midfielder leave his physical problems behind and be key on the field for the team.
