Pedri González is a different player since the arrival of Hansi Flick. Against Getafe, the midfielder reached 40 consecutive matches adding minutes with the azulgrana team

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona faced Getafe this Saturday, once again, with Pedri González in charge of the midfield for the team managed by Hansi Flick. The player from Tegueste reached 29 matches as a starter against, coincidentally, the only rival he had missed out on the starting XI against this season. The '8' only played 13 minutes in the narrow victory against the 'blue' team in Montjuïc (1-0) and has now accumulated 40 consecutive matches playing with Barça.

In this sense, Flick has found the formula to recover the best version of the Tenerife native, who has been plagued by injuries over the last three seasons. The 21-year-old player reached 2,289 minutes in the 2024-25 season and has not missed an official match since March 30, 2024, when he was dealing with a right hamstring injury. Since his return in April, Pedri played the last 10 matches of the previous season with Xavi Hernández on the bench, which adds to the 30 of the current season.

Pedri, the mastermind behind Koundé's goal

Against Getafe, the '8' rubbed the lamp in the 9th minute to break the streak of five years without scoring for Barça at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. The midfielder often spots spaces where very few see them, and amidst the overcrowding of rival defenders in the opponent's area, he noticed the arrival of Jules Koundé into the box, filtering a perfect pass that left the Frenchman one-on-one with Soria.

The opposing goalkeeper managed to block Koundé's first shot, but the ball remained loose, and the azulgrana full-back, with sheer determination, ended up pushing the ball into the empty net despite Soria's efforts to claim it. This was Pedri's seventh pre-assist of the season, leading this statistic in the five major European leagues.
