Pedri has established himself as the most valuable creative midfielder in the world. Despite having a market price of 100 million, his value transcends the economic.
The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán witnessed a new recital by Pedri González, the conductor of the overwhelming FC Barcelona under Hansi Flick. The Tenerife native was key in the azulgrana's victory against Sevilla, where he provided the assist for the second goal, and night after night he shows that he has found his perfect fit in the team, playing close to the base of the midfield, practically next to the pivot.
In world football, there is no other creative midfielder who offers his level in this position or reaches his market value. The '8' culé is valued at 100 million euros according to 'Transfermarkt', surpassed only by Rodri and Federico Valverde (130 million), although their profiles are different from that of the Barcelona star.
Of a similar mold are Nicolò Barella (Inter Milan), valued at 80 million euros, and Enzo Fernández (Chelsea), Vitinha (Paris Saint-Germain), and Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich), priced at 70 million. In an increasingly scarce market for 'cracks', González appears as a true diamond and, at just 22 years old, he is still far from reaching his ceiling.
Pedri surpasses his records from last season
Under the orders of Hansi Flick, Pedri has rediscovered his best version after a complicated season, especially due to his physical problems. With three more months of competition still to play, the Canary Islander has already played 35 official matches, one more than in the entire 2023/24 season.
Additionally, he has scored 4 goals, the same as last season, and has provided one more assist (6). All this when he has barely started the second half of the season, so his statistics could skyrocket by the end of the season.
On the other hand, González looks fresh despite having accumulated 2,703 minutes, a figure much higher than the 2,027 he played in the entire 23/24 season, making it clear that his physical problems are now a thing of the past. The player has proven to be a total midfielder, influencing both in attack and defense. The best news for Barça: his renewal until 2030, securing him with a clause of one billion euros. The future of the club rests on the feet of the Tenerife star.
