Barça extends season tickets in Montjuïc, but will it return to Camp Nou in May?
The works at Spotify Camp Nou are progressing well despite the rains recorded in the last few days in the Catalan city. The club's management keeps the option open to return to the culé temple in May, although all the necessary preparations to finish the season in Montjuïc have been made preventively, with the aim of not compromising the team's future in La Liga and Champions.
This Thursday, FC Barcelona announced the extension of the season pass for all its subscribers at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys until the end of the 24-25 season. A measure that many have interpreted as a definitive farewell to the possibility of playing matches at Les Corts this season, but which is more related to logistical and administrative issues.
"If you want to extend the pass that you already acquired for these new matches, you can do so with the following link," says the statement sent by the club to its La Liga and Champions subscribers. However, there are still options for Barça to play its last two league matches at Camp Nou, including the Clásico on matchday 35 to be played on Sunday, May 11.
The current state of Spotify Camp Nou: Is it possible to return in May?
The current state of the works at Spotify Camp Nou shows significant progress, although with some delays. Below, we review the most recent advances:
- Seats and Stands: Most of the seats in the first and second tiers have been installed, with approximately 39,000 seats placed.
- Interior Corridors and Services: The interior corridors are being painted a deep blue and the bathrooms and refreshment points are being prepared for future use. Although they are already painted, there are still details to complete for these services to be operational.
- Playing Field: The work to condition the grass is advanced. The ground has been leveled and treatments are being carried out to have the grass ready by mid-April. Additionally, the aeration and drainage systems have already been installed.
- Corridors and Services: The interior corridors are being painted a deep blue, although there are still details to complete for the bathrooms and refreshment points to be operational.
- VIP Structure: The structure of the VIP ring between the second and third tiers is already visible, although it has not yet been concreted. This area will include a double VIP ring with approximately 7,500 seats.
- Roof: The installation of the roof has been postponed until the summer of 2026. This is because the structure of the third tier needs to be completed before the roof can be placed.
- Mobility and Accessibility: Access to the stadium is being prepared, including escalators and elevators to facilitate the movement of spectators.
Although the club maintains the possibility of playing a match at Spotify Camp Nou before the end of the season, there is no official confirmation of a specific return date. The initial capacity would be limited to about 65,000 spectators. In summary, the works are progressing, but the Stadium will not be completely finished until June 2026, with the full inauguration planned for October 2026.
