RENEWALS: The three key 'folders' that Barcelona plans to address soon

The FC Barcelona, besides keeping an eye on various market opportunities to strengthen the sporting project, must pay special attention to renewing key elements of the squad, whose contracts with the club expire in 2026. To avoid unnecessary uncertainties, it is advisable for the Culé team to initiate negotiations to secure the continuity of these players at the club.

Under this premise, there are three particular cases that are crucial to address soon: Pedri González, Pablo Gavi, and Ronald Araújo. The first two seem relatively straightforward to resolve, while the latter appears to be more complicated due to his conservative stance regarding his future at the club.

Now, as reported by 'Mundo Deportivo,' Barcelona aims to extend the contracts of these three players until 2030, ensuring an additional five years beyond the current season. However, while the Barcelona team would like to conclude these negotiations swiftly, they are mindful of the importance of considering financial fair play regulations in the process.

Pedri González

According to 'MD,' there is a strong interest within Barcelona to expedite the renewal process for Pedri González, who is having an outstanding 2024-25 season under the guidance of Hansi Flick. During this campaign, the Canary Islands player has shown to have reached the physical peak long awaited, leaving behind his previous injury concerns, enabling him to perform with more confidence on the field in a new role as an attacking midfielder and central midfielder, taking on more creative responsibilities and assuming a more prominent role. Undoubtedly, he has earned his contract renewal.

In this context, it appears that Deco has already met with Pedri's agent, Héctor Peris, to convey the club's interest in extending his contract, also making it clear the pivotal role expected of him in Hansi Flick's sporting project. Although the contract extension is not yet finalized, according to sources close to the club, there is no doubt that an agreement will be reached shortly for the renewal of the player from Tegueste.

Pablo Gavi

Now, regarding the case of Pablo Gavi, it seems to perhaps be the one that can most easily be resolved out of the three. The homegrown Culé has always shown his love for everything related to FC Barcelona, and how proud he is to be a player for the team that gave him the opportunity to debut at a very young age in the First Division and has always positioned him as one of its great emblems.

Despite the serious injury suffered by the Andalusian, which caused him to miss a year of action with Barcelona, it has not hindered the club from expressing its willingness to renew his contract through discussions with his agent, Iván de la Peña. This should only be a matter of time before reaching a successful conclusion. In his previous renewal with the club, he accepted a lower salary, which positions him as one of the key players with the most influence on the sporting project, but also as one of the lowest-paid, earning only 3.3 million euros net per season. This amount places him far from the top in terms of earnings, which does not align with his contribution to the team.
