A season to forget: The ghosts of Barça in their most 'depressing' year

It said it does some days Joan Laporta that the season of the FC Barcelona had a "approved justito", reasoning that the things could have been worse and that, at least, the club achieved the classification to the next phase of groups of the Champions League and the 'final four' of the Supercopa of Spain. They were, in fact, the two big attainments of a Barça that finish the year in white, without titles.

The absence of trophies is worrisome, taking in account that in the last three years, the Barcelona picture only has raised a trofeor, the one of the Glass of the King in the past season. What is graver is how has sacked the Barça of each one of the competitions; with the feeling that it did not reach him to compete really by the five titles that played in this campaign. The ones of the City Condal lived traumatic eliminations (again) and in any moment felt able to arrive far. There was not how.

And it is true that influence a lot of factors. It was the first season 'post-Messi' and the staff remained half. The club lengthened too much the 'agony' with Ronald Koeman or Xavi Hernández found a totally destroyed staff. Everything influences. Everything subtracts. The Barça found in a situation súmamente delicate that, save to the period between February and March, went an authentic film of terror. Can look for a lot of culprits (and probably is it), but the conclusion is that it has been one of the seasons more deprimentes and dramatic of the culés in the last times.

The elimination of the Champions League in phase of groups was the hardest hit for the Barcelona. In six parties, only were able to annotate two goals (to the Dynamo of Kiev, one in the gone and another in the turn) and was victim of three goleadas, against the Bayern by double game and in front of the Benfica. The culés happened to play the Europe League, in 'play-offs', a competition 'unknown' for a team accustomed to contest the final phases of the League of Champions.

In Europe the situation did not improve a lot, but the depression continued. The history finish in quarter-finals, although of entrance the Barça left the feeling that it was clear candidate to carry the title. The Eintracht of Frankfurt finish with the illusions and invaded to the Camp Nou to carry the result and leave very 'touched' to the group trained by Xavi Hernández. It was a new disappointment of the season and a new humiliation in continental competitions (the enésima in these last years!).

The history did not improve home...

In the national competitions the history did not improve for the Barça, all the contrary. In the Glass of the King could not defend the title and saw deleted in eighth of final in hands of the Athletic of Bilbao, in extention, whereas in the Supercopa Spanish the Real Madrid surpassed to the Barcelona. Can stand out , of this clash in concrete, that the ones of Xavi signed a very complete party and were upper, but were the ones of Ancelotti those that carried the trophy...

In the LaLiga, finally, the Barça was not able to compete by the title. It is true that achieved a traced back of positions importantísima (of the ninth to the second) and that the blaugrana achieved to classify to Champions and Supercopa, but at the end that is the annual obligation. With his grey and surprises, but obligation. The Real Madrid did not have rival and his title is indisputable, because it knew to keep his differences and take advantage of of the 'KO' of his rivals.

It is merit of the madridistas, but also demérito of the rest. The Barcelona finish to thirteen points of the leadership and never saw possible to approach more to the first position. LaLiga Finish very soon and the culés did not add to the train. Only it remains them, of safe, an enormous learning and the obligation to do all the possible so that seasons like these do not repeat . It would be shot in the foot for the club.
