Ferran Torres took the place of Robert Lewandowski in the center of the attack and delivered beyond expectations. The '7' from Barcelona scored his seventh goal of the season

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Ferran Torres was one of the great surprises of Hansi Flick in the starting eleven of FC Barcelona against Valencia. After his great performance against Benfica in the Champions League, the German decided to give the 'Shark' a chance from the start this Sunday in Montjuïc to give a well-deserved rest to Robert Lewandowski against the Che team, and his gamble was more than fruitful.

In his eighth start of the season, the forward responded to the trust of the azulgrana coach and fulfilled the inexorable 'law of the ex'. In the 8th minute of the match, the attacker took advantage of a cross from Balde to the heart of the area, and without letting the ball drop, placed his shot in the farthest corner of Mamardashvili's goal, scoring the second goal of the night for the Catalans. With a past at Valencia, the '7' did not celebrate this goal out of respect for his former club.

 Ferran continues his resurgence

This goal against the team managed by Carlos Corberán confirms Ferran's current good form. In his last four matches, the player has three goal contributions (2 goals and 1 assist) and has already reached seven goals in the 22 matches he has played this season across all competitions.

His goals against Mallorca, Betis (1 in La Liga and 1 in the Copa del Rey), Valladolid, Borussia Dortmund (x2), and now Valencia, allow him to match his records from the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, although there are still just over five months of competition left. If he maintains his current level, Torres is on track to surpass his best numbers at Barça, when he scored 11 goals and provided 4 assists in the 2023/24 season. The 'Shark' is already here.
