Anderson Luis de Souza, Deco, presented his report as head of the sports management of FC Barcelona during the ordinary general assembly of delegate members. In his presentation, the Barça manager reviewed the club's current affairs based on the decisions that he and the board of directors have taken in recent months.

One of the key points in the intervention of the Sao Paulo native had to do with the objectives set by Barça, which always aim to fight for all the titles at stake. "We seek to maintain Barça's style by adapting to the existing squad, with the unwavering commitment of La Masia and with the challenge of controlling the best players in the world," he explained.

In that sense, he defended the idea of not incorporating too many footballers, due to the need to control spending in favor of salary balance. "We believe in meritocracy. Young people should know that earning money comes with work. We want bonuses to come with titles," argued the culé sports director.

Barça's movements in the market, according to Deco's vision

Likewise, the former Portuguese international did an exhaustive review of all the signings, sales and loans made by Barça in the last transfer window. According to Deco, the departures of Lenglet, Oriol Romeu, Vitor Roque and Álex Valle (all on loan) had to do with the need for these players to add more minutes.

The cases of Dest, Julián Araújo, Mika Faye, Chadi Riad, Estanis Pedrola and Marc Guiu, on the other hand, were due to the players' desire to leave, but also to the possibility of making money with beneficial operations for the club. In the case of Ansu Fati, he appreciated being able to try to recover an exceptional talent, while he wished Marcos Alonso, Gündogan, Joao Félix and Joao Cancelo luck in their new teams.

With the German, Deco made it clear that he himself asked to leave "because he thought he would not have many minutes with Flick" and, in relation to signings, he highlighted having signed Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, "two players that we needed", Like Szczesny, the latter due to the loss of Ter Stegen.

Deco, surrendered to the work and character of Hansi Flick

Similarly, Deco referred to the arrival of Hansi Flick to the Barça bench. For the Sao Paulo player, Barça needed a coach with courage and who believed in the squad, with the ability to guarantee the team's maximum competitiveness. "Hansi brings this to us. In addition to believing in something, you have to do it and the coach is a main part of this process."

Likewise, he appreciated the coach's position in leaving the club the freedom to hire all physical managers, a key factor for his work. "We had the idea of recovering the level of quality that for me did not exist at this moment and had to be recovered, hence the commitment to Julio Tous and his entire team," he pointed out about the new Barça technical staff.
