In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Szczesny has dropped a real bombshell. The Polish goalkeeper has admitted that he is a smoker with a worrying dose of normality, warning that "it is nobody's business and that it does not affect his performance on the field."
As expected, the news has spread like wildfire. Fans could not believe such surprising information. It is hard to understand that a professional football team like Barcelona has in its ranks an athlete who is a smoker: "I want to be judged as a goalkeeper and not by stories that nobody cares about."
The goalkeeper has tried to downplay it by reminding that other footballers also smoked, like Buffon, he explained between laughs implying that the Italian goalkeeper smoked a lot. Szczesny has insisted that smoking does not affect his performance and what he does is work twice as hard and hide from the children.
I don't do it in front of the children so that they don't have a bad influence. Sometimes they take pictures of me hiding behind the trees, where I can't see them. This is not up to me anymore. I try to hide it and not show it to people.
