FC Barcelona is waiting to resolve the matter related to the registration of Dani Olmo, an issue that is currently generating some uncertainty. Because? We tell you at FCBN
FC Barcelona experienced a rather complex 2024-25 summer transfer window. Why? All of this was due to uncertainty regarding compliance with LaLiga's financial fair play and the introduction of the renowned 1/1 rule (the team can invest in new signings the same amount of money they earn from the sale of other players), a situation that limited the Blaugrana to make only two acquisitions and to perform 'juggling' to register them.
Fortunately, Barcelona found in an unfortunate event, such as the long-term injury of Andreas Christensen (left Achilles tendinopathy), a 'miraculous' way to solve the registration of one of the two players signed in the summer: Dani Olmo. This was achieved by invoking Article 77 of LaLiga regulations, which allows using 80% of the salary space of a long-term injured player (four months or more) to register another player, an opportunity that the Barcelona team skillfully took advantage of.
However, this solution, while temporarily solving Barcelona's problems, raised a dilemma for the future. Why? This registration is only valid until December 31 of this year. In other words, this matter must be resolved before the start of the winter transfer window; otherwise, the Terrassa native will be unregistered, as confirmed by Javier Gómez, Corporate General Director of LaLiga, specifically referring to this case: "Dani Olmo is registered until December 31. If FC Barcelona fails to generate registration capacity, on January 1 he would not be registered."
Nevertheless, the Catalan club was confident in finding a solution to this problem and was based on exploring two possible ways: finalizing the new and economically attractive sponsorship agreement with Nike or resolving the issue of non-payment from Libero Football Finance. Despite this, as of today, both issues seem still unclear.
The main reason causing uncertainty at Barcelona regarding the registration of Dani Olmo
Indeed, as reported in 'SPORT', Barcelona's perspectives on these solutions are surrounded by uncertainty, creating several uncertainties regarding the registration of Dani Olmo. Why? For example, according to the mentioned source, the agreement with Nike probably will not be finalized until January, delaying this economic 'boost'.
On the other hand, the entry of Libero Football Finance does not seem to be a close solution, complicating this situation more than expected. Will Barcelona be able to solve this problem in time? This is not entirely clear, but it seems that Dani Olmo trusts that the Blaugrana can resolve this issue before the deadline, avoiding any inconvenience in this regard.
