BARÇA WILL BE ABLE TO IMPROVE ITS ECONOMY
The money that FC Barcelona will get with the departures of Gündogan and Vitor Roque
The departures of Ilkay Gündogan and Vitor Roque from FC Barcelona could bring in a lot of money for the Blaugrana club, who will be able to lighten their wage bill to sign a new player and, most importantly, be able to register Dani Olmo
In the next few hours, FC Barcelona could finalise the departures of Ilkay Gündogan and Vitor Roque. The 33-year-old German will return to Manchester City on a free transfer, while the 19-year-old Brazilian will go on loan to Real Betis. If these two operations are confirmed, the Blaugrana club will have almost 13 million euros gross in terms of financial fair play.
This would mean that Barça could afford to sign a new player or register Dani Olmo, which is the club's top priority. The board also plans to close this week the loan of Clement Lenglet to Atlético de Madrid and be able to start negotiating for a low-cost left winger like Federico Chiesa or Kingsley Coman, who are the best positioned to arrive in Barcelona before August 30.
How much will Barcelona receive for the departures of Gündogan and Roque?
If we talk about Gündogan, the midfielder has a salary that is close to 18 million euros gross per season. His departure will allow the Barça board to use 70% of the player's salary and amortization cost. This is because his salary exceeds 5% of the total cost of the squad and he is among the players who are considered franchise players, which means about 12.60 million euros gross and about 6.3 net.
In the case of Roque, the Brazilian has a contract of 3.5 million euros gross and about 1.7 net. Barcelona will only be able to obtain a percentage of 'fair play' if it sells the player, because the forward is not registered in La Liga. In that case, it would get 20% of the cost of the transfer. But this option is practically ruled out because the player has opted for a loan to Betis.
As Roque is not registered, they will lose 60% of his salary and amortisation costs in terms of 'fair play', that is, around 2.1 million euros. However, if the player's salary is subtracted, it is quite positive in the search to reach the 1/1 scenario, which they have not yet reached. The next few days will be key to determine whether they get there or not, so Deco and company must act quickly to avoid creating more problems.
