Discover why the new date for Barça vs Osasuna could be problematic
The FC Barcelona may face a significant issue regarding the rescheduling of the match corresponding to matchday 27 that they were supposed to play against CA Osasuna. It is important to remember that this match was suspended due to the tragic death of the team's doctor, Carles Miñarro García, which occurred shortly before the start of the match, leaving the entire team in shock due to the closeness that several members of the squad and the management had with the 53-year-old physician.
The problem for FC Barcelona lies in the complexity of finding suitable dates to carry out this match amid an extremely tight schedule, with the blue and claret team seeing action in all possible competitions. According to what has been discussed in FCBN, two tentative dates have been proposed: Thursday, March 27 and Wednesday, May 21.
Which date would suit FC Barcelona?
Among these options, the date that seems most convenient for FC Barcelona appears to be Wednesday, May 21, as it corresponds to the week before the last matchday of LaLiga EA Sports against Athletic Club (May 25). However, according to reports from 'Relevo', neither CA Osasuna nor LaLiga seem to agree with this choice, considering that rescheduling the match to such a distant date in the calendar could affect the competition, especially since it involves two teams with three points more than the other 18 in the championship.
Furthermore, rescheduling it for such a distant date in the calendar would mean losing that available window in case any unforeseen events arise in the weeks leading up to it.
Why would the other date pose an inconvenience for the blue and claret team?
If the other option supported by LaLiga and CA Osasuna is chosen, which would be to play the match on March 27, it would pose a sporting setback for FC Barcelona, as they would apparently have to face the match without one of their best forwards, Raphinha, and without one of their key defenders, Ronald Araujo. Both players would be with their national teams, Brazil and Uruguay, to face matches on March 25 against Argentina and Bolivia respectively, which would require a tight adjustment for them to arrive on time for the match.
Additionally, it is important to consider that FC Barcelona could have complications in preparing for the match, given that during FIFA dates they release a significant number of players to their respective national teams. Although most of them would be available by March 26 and would adapt to the dynamics of the blue and claret team, factors such as recovery time, post-travel rest, and other aspects would affect the players of Barça more than those of CA Osasuna, who release a much smaller number of international assets.
