Barça finished the group stage of the Champions League in second place in the table and has earned an amount close to 56 million euros for qualifying directly for the Round of 16
The FC Barcelona concluded its participation in the group stage of the 2024-2025 Champions League with a 2-2 draw against Atalanta. This result allowed the Blaugrana to qualify directly for the Round of 16 in second place in the table, a situation that is great news for the club's finances.
Indeed, the economic aspect of the Catalan entity has been greatly benefited by the success of Hansi Flick's team in the European competition. By finishing the group stage in second place, the culés have earned a total of 44.9 million euros, divided into the 18.6 'million' earned from their participation in the tournament and 13.3 million received thanks to their performance, with their 6 victories and one draw in the 8 matches played.
Barça could earn a real 'windfall'
Additionally, qualifying for the Round of 16 is rewarded by UEFA with 11 million euros, and as an extra incentive, the Federation has granted 2 'million' additional to those teams that achieved direct passage to the next round of the competition.
Finally, the Barça has added another 10 million euros from the distribution of the so-called 'shares', which is a bonus system based on the final position in the group stage. Each 'share' has a base value of 275 thousand euros, and by finishing in second place, the Catalans receive 35, specifically earning 10,435,122€ into their pockets.
- Income from participation in the Champions League: €18.6M
- Income from performance: €13.3M
- Income from qualifying for the last 16: €11M
- Income from direct qualification: €2M
- Income from 'shares': €10.4M
- Total income for FC Barcelona: €55.3M
In this way, the Blaugrana conclude the first round of the Champions with 55,335,122, a figure more than significant for the club's finances.
Barça's accounts to continue making money in Europe
Ahead of the decisive phases, the Catalans could add €12.5M if they advance to the quarter-finals, €15M for playing the 'semis' and €18M if the team reaches the final. The tournament champion receives a bonus of €25M to which is also added the 'market pool', income derived from the TV rights and sponsors of the tournament.
UEFA calculates this amount based on the results of the champion compared to the results obtained by the rest of the clubs in its league, together with the historical ranking of the last decade. At the start of the 2024/25, Barça was fifth behind Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid (leader). All this would shoot the final loot up to €140-150M for the Catalans if they were to win the 'orejona' in Munich.
