Barça could count on Gavi and Dani Olmo for the match against Sevilla. Both players are almost recovered and Flick is considering calling them up for this clash

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Gavi continues to make 'giant steps' in his recovery process. The 20-year-old midfielder, who is close to completing a year away from the pitch after suffering a complete tear of the anterior cruciate ligament and an associated injury to the external meniscus while playing for the Spanish national team, is already training with the group and has impressed FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick.

The footballer is doing great in the exercises with his teammates and the sensations around his physical condition are unbeatable, so the German coach is already considering calling him up for the first match after the international break, Barça-Sevilla on Sunday 20 October. That day will mark eleven months and one day since the Andalusian's injury in Valladolid playing for La Roja against Georgia and it would put an end to a long road in which prudence has been the main premise.

Both the Blaugrana club, its technical director and its staff, want the player to return in perfect condition and without risks, so they plan to take great care with his return to the first team. However, Flick sees Gavi training every day with greater intensity and at a spectacular level, so he already sees it difficult to retain him any longer and is considering including him in the list for the duel against the Sevillian team.

A 'friendly' context for Gavi's return

The match against García Pimienta's team will be played in Montjuïc, in front of the Barça fans and after a two-week break for international matches. In addition, his return that day could give an important morale boost in view of the run of four consecutive 'trials of fire': the aforementioned one against Sevilla and later against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Espanyol.

The management of Gavi's return will be in the hands of Flick, and although he will be called up and see minutes against the Andalusians, it does not mean that he will repeat the same against Bayern and Madrid, two high-tension clashes for the Blaugranas. In any case, the player from Los Palacios is beginning to see 'the light at the end of the tunnel' and now there will be two weeks in which he will push to finish his preparation and receive medical clearance.

Will there be another important return against Sevilla?

Like Gavi, Dani Olmo could also be called up by Flick for the clash against Sevilla. The player from Egarense is working tirelessly to recover as soon as possible, doing up to three sessions per day, with loads in the gym and on the pitch to improve his muscles and resistance. In addition, Fermín López will also face the final stretch of his recovery during this international break with his sights set on the match on October 20. The good news continues to arrive from the culé infirmary.
