Despite not having much experience in stadium construction, the FC Barcelona board of directors awarded the Turkish company Limak Construction the remodeling works for the Spotify Camp Nou. The works will last until the summer of 2026
The works of remodeling of the Spotify Camp Nou will be developed by the Turkish company Limak Construction. The directive awarded the works to the company that built the airport of Istanbul, which is considered like the best of the world, after a contest in which the Turkish imposed to Spanish constructors like Ferrovial, Acciona, Sacyr and FCC in spite of not having a lot of experience in the construction of sportive stadiums.
In this regard, Elena Fort, institutional vice-president of the FC Barcelona, desestimó the doubts that can generate the company otomana. "It is not necessary to have experience in building stadiums neither was the essential and prioritario in the bidding. The Camp Nou will be a work of important engineering and Limak, in civil work is of the best companies of the world", emphasized Fort when doing the official announcement.

Besides, the managerial culé explained that "the condition that fulfils Limak is that it adjusts to what said in the referendum regarding the cost of 900 million euros for the Camp Nou and that fulfilled the terms to do the stadium with the best price and in the lower possible time. That is to say, that have a maximum price guaranteeed and the agreement fulfil with the terms". The works will begin to plenary in June of this year and will extend until the summer of 2026.
This will force to the Barça to play in Montjuïc the next season, until November of 2024, when the first team will return to the temple culé for the celebration of the 125 anniversary of the institution. In this sense, Fort stood out that "the rapidity in the construction guarantees the lower economic damage for the club", in addition to detailing that the agreement with Limark is alone for the remodeling of the Camp Nou and no of the Palau Blaugrana, that also forms part of the project Espai Barça.
The Barça, trusted the finance of the works
On the finance of a project whose total cost is fixed in 1.500 million euros, the institutional vice-president blaugrana cleared how will obtain the capital to make them. "Goldman Sachs is not the one who will leave us the money but the one who looks for the people that fund the project, that has to know so much in the commercial plan as in the one of the works to be able to explain it to those who will leave the money finally", puntualizó Fort. The American bank JP Morgan also will serve of mediator in some negotiations that the directive expects to close in brief.
