A tough setback for FC Barcelona in its search for a new 'lever'

FC Barcelona continues to study formulas to continue to clean up its accounts. For this reason, according to what was reported by some Arab media and 'Mundo Deportivo', the board of directors traveled to Riyadh to meet with a possible sponsor.

It is NEOM, a mega urban project in the province of Tabuk in the northwest of Saudi Arabia and with which Barça wanted to reach a sponsorship agreement. The meeting was attended by all the directors of the Catalan institution, except for Joan Laporta, who apologized for his absence at the last minute citing personal reasons. Who was part of the negotiation was Pini Zahavi, Robert Lewandowski's agent and who maintains a close relationship with the Barça president.

Barça's proposal

The Blaugrana club's plan included a commercial proposal for NEOM to take charge of sponsorship in places such as the training shirt, as well as sponsorship of the reserve team, the basketball team and the VIP rooms located in the new Spotify Camp Nou, among other matters.

However, the Saudi delegation put a stop to the Catalans' planning and rejected the offer, although it did make it clear that they intend to transfer the philosophy of FC Barcelona and La Masia to Saudi Arabia, where they intend to open several branches of the club. The Catalans saw this route in a positive light and were open to carrying it out, so it is expected that more conversations will soon be held between both parties.
