Cesc Fàbregas could solve a big problem for FC Barcelona in January. Recent reports indicate the interest of the current coach of Como in Ansu Fati
The future of Ansu Fati is undoubtedly one of the most complex issues that FC Barcelona has to resolve in 2025. The '10' is Hansi Flick's last option for making rotations in attack and the lack of offers ahead of the January market is a major concern for the Barça management. In this sense, Cesc Fàbregas could lend a hand to Barça by taking the 21-year-old forward to Serie A.
According to recent reports, the former Barça player, who has been managing Como since the summer, would be willing to sign the player from Bissau as a winter reinforcement. The Lariano team has not had a good first half of the season, with only 15 points obtained after 17 matches, just two points above the relegation zone and with only 18 goals scored so far. In this sense, Fati could be a great boost for the 'voltiani' attack.
Como, a good opportunity for Ansu Fati's 'rebirth'
Although it is a team fighting to avoid relegation in Italy, the option of Como presents an interesting alternative for the player from Bissau. In Barcelona, he will hardly have more than residual minutes unless a starter suffers some physical setback in the coming months. Indeed, on the left side, Flick has Raphinha, Dani Olmo, Fermín López, and Gavi himself as options.
Hence, the '10' has only accumulated 125 minutes of play in 4 LaLiga matches, in addition to another 33 minutes in 3 appearances in the Champions League. Physical problems have prevented the 21-year-old forward from being ready since the start of the 2024/25 season and, in December, he had to go back to the Barça infirmary, missing 10 matches this season due to injuries.
In Serie A, Ansu could 'polish' himself physically, something he failed to do in 2023/24 in England. Negotiations with Como will not be easy, as the Italian team would only seek a simple loan in which Barça assumes most of the player's salary (around 14 million euros gross). This factor, along with his frequent muscular relapses, has cooled Sevilla's interest in recent weeks.
