The FC Barcelona board keeps the possibility of recovering Óscar Mingueza open for next summer. Celta de Vigo hopes to retain the defender, but has already set his exit price

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Óscar Mingueza is one of the full-backs on FC Barcelona's radar for the upcoming summer transfer market. The 25-year-old defender left the azulgrana team in 2022 on a 'free transfer' to sign with Celta de Vigo, where he has played 81 official matches in two and a half seasons. Although the youth player left with a free transfer, the club retained 50% of his sporting rights, along with a buyback option.

Looking ahead to the summer of 2025, Barça could recover the player from Santa Perpetua de Mogoda for a figure close to 10 million euros, half of the value of his clause (50 'kilos'). Óscar has been playing very well with the sky-blue team, alternating his natural position (right) to cover both sides of the field with the Galicians. His good performance has sparked the interest of several clubs, including a Barcelona where he played 66 matches between 2020 and 2022 (2 goals and 5 assists).

Celta, confident about Mingueza's continuity

Beyond Barça's advantage regarding the defender's future, the president of the Vigo team, Marián Mouriño, explained in an interview with 'AS' the club's stance on his clause. "Mingueza is being an important player in the team, in the locker room, being an international and I see him so happy here that I find it hard to think he could leave", the president began to say.

In that sense, she admitted that "in the market so many things happen that maybe tomorrow they call me and tell me they have paid the clause. I believe he will stay with us", Mouriño specified. This season, the Catalan has been a starter in 16 of the 18 league matches played so far by Claudio Giráldez's team, adding 2 goals and 5 assists in 17 appearances (1,368 minutes). The '3' has a contract until 2026 and Celta hopes to renew him before the summer.
