For the opening of its new stadium, Inter Miami hopes to secure the renewal of Lionel Messi and the signing of Neymar Jr.
Inter Miami is reportedly considering a double 'hit' to revolutionize Major League Soccer in 2026. For the opening of its new stadium this year, the board of the Florida institution wants to have two former FC Barcelona stars in its ranks.
The first of them, Lionel Messi. The Argentine's contract expires at the end of the season, but the club's president, Jorge Mas, admitted that "I am very confident that Messi will be present at the opening of our new stadium in 2026. I will sit down with Leo at some point in the preseason. I am confident that, as long as he is healthy, we will see him wearing pink."
Inter Miami dreams of signing Neymar
The president also spoke about the possible signing of Neymar. "The key is if he becomes available. He is now an Al-Hilal player. He is not available to us. I have always said that we aspire to bring great players to our team. We have many limitations and restrictions on the squad, but we have an unlimited budget," he said.
"We are ambitious. If the possibility ever arises to bring a player of Neymar's calibre, we will not hesitate. It does not depend only on me. It depends on the player and the league. But yes, we aspire to build a great squad," concluded Mas, revealing what could be one of the most decisive blows in the history of the MLS.
