FC Barcelona would be interested in knowing the situation of two defenders from Sporting Club de Portugal with a view to undertaking a future signing. Who would these two players be?

Calendar of FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is not only monitoring the situation of Viktor Gyökeres at Sporting Club de Portugal as a significant candidate to strengthen the forward line, but would also be considering other players from the Portuguese team with a view to a future offensive. In this regard, the Barça sports management would be aware of the current status of two players from the Lisbon squad.

According to the journalist specialized in transfer matters, Ekrem Konur, Barcelona, along with the other two giants of Spain, Real Madrid and Atlético, would have sent scouts to track the progress of two defenders from Sporting: the 21-year-old Ivorian, Ousmane Diomande, and the 21-year-old Belgian, Zeno Debast.

It is worth noting that, at first glance, launching an offensive for any of these players at this time seems quite challenging, as both Diomande and Debast are key pieces in the sporting planning of the reigning Primeira Liga champions. They form the practically indisputable defensive pair, having both played 22 matches in this 2024-25 season.

Negotiating for either of these defenders would not be an easy task

Furthermore, Sporting Club de Portugal also has a significant advantage in negotiating a possible transfer of either of the two players, as both have long-term contracts with the team. Diomande, whose market value is estimated at around €40 million, has a contract until June 30, 2027, while Zeno Debast, valued at €24 million, has a contract until June 30, 2028.

Now, it is clear that the interest of Barcelona, as well as that of other clubs, is well-founded. On one hand, Ousmane Diomande stands out as a very complete defender, with an imposing physical presence and strong defensive abilities, being a challenge to beat one-on-one, as well as having speed to quickly rectify plays. He is also a good long passer, justifying his €80 million release clause.

On the other hand, Zeno Debast also excels in aerial play and defensive skills. The Belgian has enviable technique, excellent ball control and the ability to start plays from the backline. Another asset that Sporting has valued at €80 million in his release clause. Are these viable options for Barcelona?
