Hansi Flick is on a roll at FC Barcelona. The German coach has had a great start in LaLiga, winning his first four games with 13 goals scored and only 3 conceded. First they beat Valencia 1-2 at Mestalla, then Athletic Club 2-1 at Montjuïc. In the third game they won 1-2 in Vallecas against Rayo Vallecano and on August 31, they beat Valladolid 7-0.

His great start at the Catalans is nothing new. The German achieved these same records when he was in charge of Bayern Munich in the 2019/20 season, in which he managed to win the treble and, later, the sextuple. The Bavarians' first win came in the Champions League group stage with a 2-0 win over Olympiacos, then they won 4-0 against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, 4-0 against Fortuna Düsseldorf and completed the four wins against Red Star by 6-0.

In these matches, Robert Lewandowski, who is now a star of Barça, was Bayern's offensive leader and scored seven goals, four of them against Red Star. It is therefore no coincidence that the Pole shines under Flick's guidance, as he has always trusted him and they won many important titles during his time in Germany.

Flick and Bayern fell in the fifth game

However, Flick and his team were unable to maintain their good run in the fifth and sixth games. At home they lost to Peter Bosz's Bayer Leverkusen by 1-2 and in the sixth game they lost again to Borussia Mönchengladbach by 2-1. Interestingly, Lewandowski did not score in either of the two matches, but that did not prevent them from winning all the titles at the end of the season.

The German coach hopes not to suffer the same fate in Barcelona. He has already written his name in the history books of the Catalan team by being one of the few coaches who has managed to string together four victories at the start of a season, but there are coaches with better records. The record is held by Gerardo 'Tata' Martino with 8 consecutive victories in 2013/14, although the best first half of the season is still the 2012/13 season with Tito Villanova, adding a total of 18 victories (six in the first six games) and 1 draw (55 points out of 57 possible). Will Flick manage to surpass them? We will find out very soon.
