It's just a matter of time before Vitor Roque says goodbye to his brief spell at FC Barcelona. Although Sporting de Portugal is the best placed to sign him, the player's agent has met with Betis about a possible stay in Spain

Vitor Roque's future could be close to being known. The FC Barcelona board wants to resolve the matter this week and there are already several fronts open to facilitate his departure from Barcelona. The Brazilian striker arrived at the Catalan team in January 2023 taking advantage of the salary gap opened by Gavi's injury, but he has not been registered for this new season.

As if that were not enough, Hansi Flick put him on his list of discards and Barça took away the number '19' to give it to Lamine Yamal. It is clear that he has one foot more out than in the Blaugrana entity, whose board is doing everything possible to sell him and be able to recover at least part of the investment they made a year ago with his signing. Barcelona paid 30 million fixed plus 31 in variable to Athletico Paranaense for his services, but he has not met expectations, so it is better to say goodbye.

Will Roque stay in LaLiga?

Last week, Deco travelled to Portugal to negotiate a possible sale of the attacker with Sporting Lisbon. Initially, there was talk of a loan, although they would be willing to accept a conditional sale. In addition, their tentative offer of 20 million plus variables is close to what the Blaugrana board wants, so they are the top favourites to secure his services.

On the other hand, sources close to the club indicate that Roque's entourage sees Betis as a possible destination for the Brazilian, who wants to continue playing in La Liga. This would not be a priority for the Catalans, because they know that this club can only aspire to a loan. Deco has already met with the forward's agent, André Cury, to find the best solution to this problem.

However, according to information from 'Jijantes', Cury and the player's father met on August 19 with a Betis delegation in Barcelona to find out first-hand what they can propose. The Catalan club wants to close this matter this week in order to focus its efforts on signing Dani Olmo, who is impatient to play, and, of course, negotiating the possible departure of Ilkay Gündogan. There are very busy days ahead for Deco and company. We will soon know the results.
