Andreas Christensen's long-term injury will allow the Barça club to make a significant move: the registration of Dani Olmo. However, if the Dane returned earlier than expected, this would create a particular situation that would affect the Egarense, which we detail in FCBN
The FC Barcelona finds itself in a peculiar situation regarding the registration of Dani Olmo in LaLiga. Despite the numerous player departures made by the blue and red team, they were not enough to register the player from Terrassa. Faced with this situation, the club found an unexpected solution: the injury of Andreas Christensen, who is suffering from Achilles tendonitis in his left foot.
Now, why has a player's injury allowed for the registration of another in LaLiga? The Budget Preparation Regulation of the league, in its article 77, establishes that in cases of long-term injuries (four months or more), the club can use 80% of the salary space of an injured player to register another one. This method is not new for the Catalan side, as they used it this summer to register Iñigo Martínez (taking advantage of Ronald Araújo's injury) and in the winter market to register Vitor Roque (following Gavi's injury).
In relation to this case, a particular debate has arisen. Although the absence of the Dane has been confirmed by LaLiga as a long-term injury, after the thorough analysis of the medical tests sent by FC Barcelona, with a prognosis of four months, it is important to consider the possibility of the player recovering ahead of schedule. If the defender returns in a shorter period, let's say in 2-3 months, the question arises of how this would affect his return and whether he could rejoin the team without impacting Dani Olmo's registration.
What would happen if Andreas Christensen recovers earlier than expected?
In this scenario, as suggested by journalist Helena Condis, the Barcelona team should not face problems for the coexistence of the registration of the talented attacking midfielder and the return of Andreas Christensen, at least until December 31st. However, it is emphasized that if during this period the Catalan team fails to implement the necessary mechanisms to address their 'fair play' issues, the situation could change drastically. Why? Because in that case, apparently the Catalan player may not be able to play again and his registration would become void in January, leaving the club from the City of Barcelona in the same situation as they are at present.
