Dani Olmo was the notable absentee from FC Barcelona's match against Valencia on Saturday at Mestalla. The Spaniard is not yet registered in LaLiga and, although his physical condition would not be an obstacle to playing, his participation against Athletic has not yet been confirmed
Dani Olmo is getting impatient. The new FC Barcelona player wants to be able to play in the match this Saturday, August 24, against Athletic Club in Montjuïc. However, this does not depend on him, but on the Barça board, who have not yet been able to register him in LaLiga, because they have not found a solution to the financial fair play. For now, Pau Víctor has been the only signing who has entered the competition due to the salary limit.
Let us remember that the player from Egar missed the debut in the Spanish league against Valencia, because Hansi Flick considered that he was not yet ready to play. This explanation will not help him this weekend, because the player is training normally with his teammates and has no discomfort. Olmo tries to be calm and not focus on the club's problems, but he is also getting impatient because he wants to play his first minutes with the Blaugrana shirt.
Until now, his only participation with the Barça team has been his presentation to the fans in the Joan Gamper Trophy. The rest of the week he trained with the team, until his coach made statements regarding his physical condition. Apparently, his wish was to travel to Valencia with the rest of the Barça expedition, but it was impossible and he stayed in Barcelona working on improving his physical condition.
Olmo has had enough rest
The physical issue is not a problem for Olmo. His last game was the Euro Cup final in Germany on July 14. Therefore, he has had enough time to rest and replenish energy without neglecting his preparation in times of uncertainty related to his signing. Added to this, Flick needs to count on his presence, because against Valencia he had to relocate Raphinha as a midfielder and thus maintain his formation with a striker behind Lewandowski.
Precisely, that is the position where the man from Terrassa shines and with which he has excelled every time he steps onto the field. The German coach's plan is to place Pedri as a midfielder alongside the pivot, Dani Olmo, on the wings with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, while Lewandowski will be in charge of the attack.
This week will be key for the Barça board to continue looking for solutions to find salary space. One of the easiest will be to achieve the sale of players like Vitor Roque, Mika Faye and Lenglet, but these have not yet materialized. Time is passing and Deco and company will have to work quickly to be able to comply with the regulations of the League and finally be able to register their new signing.
