Wojciech Szczesny witnessed FC Barcelona's brutal thrashing of Young Boys in the Champions League live and in person. The Pole, who passed his medical last Monday and is close to signing his new contract with the club, was seen in the Montjuïc box, on what was his first night in what will be his new 'home' until the end of the season.

Barça's roadmap with Szczesny

The Catalan club's idea is for the former Juventus goalkeeper to sign his new contract with the Catalan team on Wednesday, with his signing to be officially announced later in the day. However, there is still no plan for any presentation beyond Barça's statement.

Once this step has been completed, Szczesny will undergo a private 'mini pre-season' in the next two weeks to regain his competitive tone and be in full physical condition after the international break. Hansi Flick's plan is to include the Pole in the squad for the match against Sevilla on October 20, thus beginning the 'competition' with Iñaki Peña for the starting spot in the Barça goal.
