On September 4, FIFA revealed the logo for the 'new' Club World Cup, in which, for the first time, 32 teams will participate. For Spain, the representatives will be Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. FC Barcelona will not participate because it did not qualify due to being twelfth in the UEFA ranking, since only two teams per country were selected and Simeone's team obtained a better position (10th). There are still two teams to qualify for this tournament, one of them is from CONMEBOL and the representative of the host country is the United States.

The new Club World Cup logo

This new emblem, which will be used in future editions of the tournament, is inspired by the balls, history and culture of soccer. We can also see the three initials of the tournament "C-W-C" (Club World Cup in English) condensed into a circular icon. In the center, the names of the clubs from the six confederations that will be contesting the tournament in the United States will be added.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said: “This is a very special moment. Today we are unveiling the branding for the new FIFA Club World Cup, which will mark the beginning of a new era for club football. The teams are the foundation of the competition. We are looking forward to seeing 32 of the world’s best clubs in the United States in June and July 2025. Only one of them will be the champions.”

“Freed from Desire” to be the official theme song of the tournament

Infantino also commented that he “worked with Italian pop singer and songwriter Gala to make Freed from Desire, an iconic song in football culture, the official theme song of the tournament. Because of its connection with fans around the world, including this well-known tune reinforces the historical importance of football and clubs, while marking a new stage in the evolution of the sport.” FIFA also launched the ‘Show the World Your Passion’ campaign, which invites fans to showcase what makes their club special.

There are still nine months to go before the tournament, which aims to revolutionise modern football, takes place. After all, FIFA wants to displace the UEFA Champions League from the number 1 spot as the best team competition on the planet. A change of trophy is expected for this new edition, so we will soon be able to find out what it will look like and where the venues of this ambitious project will be.
