As part of the celebration of its 125th anniversary, FC Barcelona has taken advantage of the stage at the Gran Teatre del Liceu to present its new mascot. The attendees of the event were able to meet 'Cat' for the first time, the new symbol of Barcelona's fans, whose name not only refers to the animal in English, but also to the abbreviation for Catalonia.

With Gavi and Lamine Yamal on stage, Barça unveiled its new mascot, which was designed by the Catalan cartoonist and illustrator Carlos Grangel, who has previously been part of famous projects by the American animation studio 'DreamWorks', such as 'Kung Fu Panda', 'Madagascar' and 'Hotel Transylvania'.

'Cat', a symbol for the present and future of the club

The club hopes that the arrival of 'Cat' to the Barcelona family will last over time. The Blaugranas want the mascot to be a part of the club's social base, and from now on he will be present at the first team's matches played at Montjuïc and at the Spotify Camp Nou. In fact, his debut in front of the fans will take place next Saturday against Las Palmas, as reported by 'SPORT'.

The club's idea with 'Cat' is that, if he finally achieves the expected success, they will exploit his image in terms of merchandising to promote the Barça brand. In this way, the Catalans join other LaLiga teams that also have their mascots, such as Real Sociedad with 'Txurdin', Mallorca with 'Dimonió' and Valencia with 'Amunt'.
