As the new coach of FC Barcelona, Hansi Flick is working to immerse himself in all of Catalan culture and that is why he led, together with Joan Laporta, the representation of the club at one of the events of the National Day of Catalonia
Hansi Flick continues to work to learn everything he can about his new club. That is why today he was present at an event that is far from football but is part of the history of the Blaugrana team. The German, together with the president, Joan Laporta, led the FC Barcelona representation in the traditional floral offering to the monument in memory of Rafael Casanova, ‘conseller en cap’ of the city of Barcelona in 1714 and hero of the fall of the city in the War of Succession.
This was part of one of the events of the National Day of Catalonia. Among the attendees of the Barça expedition were the captain of the women's team, Alexia Putellas and, representing the men's team, Alejandro Balde. We also saw the coach of the Women's team, Pere Romeuu and the basketball player, Alex Abrines. On behalf of the board of directors, the following attended: Rafa Yuste, Miquel Camps, Elena Fort, Xavier Barbany, Josep Cubells, Josep Ignasi Macià, Aureli Mas and Joan Solé.
Other personalities from various areas of the Catalan club were present, such as the president of Barça Atlètic, Jordi Casals;Juan Manuel Asensi and Antonio Olmo represented the Barça Players Group; Marta Segú, general director of the Foundation; Enric Bosch, from Penyes; Jordi Torras, from the futsal section. Boys and girls from the lower categories also showed their presence at this historic event
Laporta's speech at the Diada event
As is natural on every occasion when the Barcelona president is seen, the press asked him some questions, but Laporta limited himself to making a brief institutional speech in front of the monument: “One more year, FC Barcelona, an entity with deeply democratic roots, wants to be one more year at the floral offering at the Rafael Casanova monument. It is a simple act but with a very important symbolic charge.”
The manager of the Blaugrana team recalled that “FC Barcelona has been making this offering since 1919, whenever political circumstances have allowed it. We are very proud. The club has always positioned itself in favour of the rights and freedoms of Catalonia and we will continue to do so because this board of directors that I have the honour of chairing and all the people of the club have the duty to be faithful and respectful of our founding essences, a fact that we will remember this year with the 125th anniversary, which shows why Barça is more than a club. Long live Barça and Long live Catalunya!”.
Flick received displays of affection from the fans present
On 11 September, Flick granted the day of celebration to his footballers, who will return to training tomorrow to begin preparing for the match against Girona. For this reason, the German took advantage of the opportunity to attend this event, where he was seen to be very interested in learning about the meaning and symbolism of the event, one more example of how committed he is to his new home. The coach also received displays of affection from the fans who were in the vicinity of the event. Without a doubt, a personality much loved by all the culé team.
