Joan Laporta has directly contacted the mayors of the Valencian towns of Paiporta, Benetússer and Catarroja, in the DANA ground zero, but to put himself at their disposal, express his solidarity and offer them the direct collaboration and financial support of FC Barcelona in the reconstruction of the buildings and basic social services destroyed by the DANA.

This was announced by the club through its website, where they reported that the aid will be channelled through the FC Barcelona Foundation and will focus on the reconstruction of essential services identified by these towns in the coming weeks, with financing from the foundation's own funds.

In the same way, they will start a series of parallel initiatives to raise funds such as the auction of the shirts signed by the players of the first football team in the derby against RCD Espanyol and other items of interest to the Barça fans.

Barça also insisted that "for the support to be as effective as possible, it is necessary to channel it through the lines of help of entities that are experts in situations such as those that are now being experienced as a result of the DANA: the Red Cross, Caritas and the Food Bank."

Joan Laporta's words

In statements collected by the culé website, Joan Laporta assured that "in these difficult times and on behalf of FC Barcelona and our Foundation, I want to express our deepest support and solidarity and transmit hope and warmth to the people who are suffering so much from this disaster caused by the DANA," and then express his willingness to help as much as possible all those affected by the tragedy.

"As president of FC Barcelona I believe that, from a club like Barça, we can be of help at this time by being, on the one hand, a spokesperson among our followers to channel aid to the entities that are working on the ground, and on the other, by giving financial support to the rehabilitation of essential social and educational facilities as I have already transmitted directly to some of the most affected municipalities," he concluded.
