The 2024/25 season of FC Barcelona has had one of its references in Marc Casadó. The 21-year-old midfielder managed to earn the starting job amid the adversities the club faced due to injuries and financial problems, responding with character and professionalism to the trust of Hansi Flick. His consecration in the first team, of course, has been reflected in his market value.
And, in the last four months, the value of the Catalan player has skyrocketed by 12.5 million euros, going from 2.5 'kilos' (his value at the end of last season) to €15M, this according to figures from the Transfermarkt specialized website. In that sense, the value of Casadó, whose contract ends in 2028, has multiplied by a hundred since his debut with the first team.
Marc made his debut with Barça in the Champions League on November 1, 2022 in the visit to Viktoria Plzen (Culé triumph 2-4). At that time, his value was only 150,000 euros. The midfielder entered with 23 minutes remaining in what was his only appearance of the season with Xavi Hernández's team, since in the League he was called up for eight games, but did not make his debut.
Marc Casadó already equals the market value of Robert Lewandowski
Their debut in the tournament was postponed until matchday 29 of last season, against Atlético de Madrid (Culé triumph by a landslide, 0-3). The midfielder came on in the 82nd minute of the match played on March 17 at the Metropolitano. At the end of 2023, Casadó was barely worth 600,000 euros, 25 times less than 11 months later.
However, after playing 31 games with the reserve team and another four with the first team in 2023/24, he was able to close the season at 2.5 kilos in value. Now, the '17' culé already equals the market value of Robert Lewandowski (€15M) and Ansu Fati, being the sixteenth most expensive footballer in the Barça squad.
Only Héctor Fort (€10M), Iñaki Peña (€8M), Iñigo Martínez, Pau Víctor, Pablo Torre and Marc Bernal (5 'kilos'), in addition to Szczesny and Gerard Martín (€3M) and Astralaga and Sergi Domínguez (€1M €) are worth less than Casadó. In general terms, the youth player's price has multiplied by ten in the last four months. Really crazy, considering that the season is not even halfway over yet.
At the moment, Marc has 5 assists in 15 games (1,133 minutes) with Hansi Flick's team, being one of the German coach's 'untouchables'. The midfielder has eight consecutive starts between the League (5) and the Champions League (6), the latter the tournament where he has played every possible minute. Barça maintains its termination clause at 100 million euros and will probably adjust its price in the first weeks of 2024, with a notable increase in its starting price.
