In an interview with Ziggo Sport, former Real Madrid player Wesley Sneijder lashed out at Busquets. His controversial statements quickly went viral: "Motta threw a punch and Busquets began to roll on the ground while looking between his hands to see if he had seen the red card."

The former Dutch player used an undignified tone and vocabulary, even going so far as to insult: "Then he got up and was fine, the crybaby. He was an unpleasant character to play against." Sneijder played for Madrid from 2007 to 2009, facing the Barça player on several occasions:

"When he received the ball he would start crying. He was a complete crybaby. I argued with him literally every game. At one point I said to him: 'I'll see you in Ibiza in the summer and then we'll talk again'. He was an extremely annoying player, always giving the ball away to others but never being able to receive it."
