Green Numbers! Barça Increases Its Revenue in the Champions 2024-25

The new format of the UEFA Champions League is proving to be a real gold mine for FC Barcelona. Thanks to their victory on Wednesday against Borussia Dortmund, the Blaugrana have already accumulated €30.12 million in earnings during the league phase, an amount that could increase by more than €20 million after the last two remaining matchdays.

In the 2024/25 season, UEFA pays €2.1M for each victory and €700,000 for a draw, meaning Barça could earn up to an additional €4.2M if they defeat Benfica (away) and Atalanta (home), their two remaining rivals. While Hansi Flick's team would secure their qualification to the knockout stage by earning just 1 of the 6 points available, the team still aims to finish the group stage in the highest possible position.

This factor could ensure a much juicier prize for the Catalans. So far, Barça is second with 15 points, three behind the leader, Liverpool (18). If Barça maintains second place, they would earn around €54 million, as direct qualification to the knockout stage means an additional €11M, and second place in the table brings a bonus of €9.6M.

Barça's Financial Plans to Keep Cashing In in Europe

This season, each club received €18.6 million for participating in the league phase. The five victories achieved so far by the Blaugrana amount to a total of €10.5 million in revenue, which adds to an extra €1 million for securing their spot in the 'playoff' positions. With Wednesday's victory, Barça not only came one step closer to direct qualification but also eliminated the possibility of finishing outside the TOP-24.

Looking ahead to the decisive phases, the Catalans could earn €12.5 million if they advance to the quarter-finals, €15 million for reaching the 'semis', and €18 million if the team makes it to the final. The tournament champion receives a bonus of €25 million, plus the 'market pool', income derived from TV rights and tournament sponsors.

UEFA calculates this amount based on the champion's results compared to the results obtained by the other clubs in their league, along with the historical ranking of the last decade. At the start of the 2024/25 season, Barça was fifth behind Liverpool, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid (the leader). All of this could boost the final prize to €140-150 million for the Catalans if they were to take home the 'Big Ears' in Munich.
