Manchester City could not get past a draw at home against Everton in the traditional English 'Boxing Day' (1-1). After the match, Pep Guardiola 'warned' the club about the "danger" they face in 2025

The crisis at Manchester City seems to have no end. This Thursday, Pep Guardiola's team once again 'stumbled' at home against one of the clubs in the lower zone of the Premier League. On 'Boxing Day', the 'citizens' drew at home against Everton (1-1) in a match where, once again, they suffered from a lack of goals despite taking an early lead with a goal from Bernardo Silva in the 20th minute.

The 'toffees' managed to equalize before halftime with a goal from Iliman Ndiaye and, in the second half, they resisted the siege from the Manchester team. In the 53rd minute, Savinho caused a penalty, but Erling Haaland missed against Pickford with a very predictable shot. After that, there were other clear chances for the home team, but both the '9' and Fode, Doku, and Savinho himself lacked precision. In the end, the draw worsens the 'sky blue' crisis and Guardiola took the opportunity to 'warn' the club about what 2025 could hold.

Pep 'warns' about the risk of missing out on the next Champions League

"When I said it before, people laughed! They said: 'qualifying for the Champions League is not a great success'. But I know because it happens with other clubs in this country", Pep began, referring to his team's current position in the table (seventh). City could finish matchday 18 six points off fourth place if Nottingham Forest defeats Tottenham.

In that sense, Guardiola added: "those teams were dominant for many years and then spent many years not qualifying for the Champions League. The only team that has been in the Champions League in recent years has been Manchester City. Now we are in danger, of course", he pointed out. The 'sky blue' team will close out 2024 this Sunday visiting Leicester. Since October 30, the team has only won 1 of their last 13 matches in all competitions (3 draws and 9 losses).
