Copa del Rey 1/16
Ansu Fati and Pablo Torre could have a golden opportunity against Barbastro
Neither of the two Spanish footballers are having much participation this season and it is expected that in the first match of 2025 they will be able to have minutes
The cases of Pablo Torre and Ansu Fati are worrying. Especially that of the heir to the number 10 who, between injuries and substitutions, has only accumulated 158 minutes spread over 7 games. In the same way, the Cantabrian midfielder has played more full games on the bench than on the pitch. It is clear that both need to put in a performance that catapults their participation in the team, a situation that could occur this Saturday.
The first rounds of the Copa del Rey usually pit top-level teams against rivals from much lower divisions. This is the case of the round of 32, which pits FC Barcelona against Barbastro, who play in the Second Federation. These types of clashes usually lead to rotations in the big club, something that Hansi Flick is expected to do in view of this commitment.
Ansu Fati and Pablo Torre, condemned to ostracism
It is normal that, halfway through the season, in all clubs there are a couple of players who are receiving fewer minutes than their teammates. The clearest case for Barça is Szczesny, who arrived at the club on October 1 and has not yet made his debut. However, of the outfield players with a first-team contract, those who have received the least time on the pitch are Pablo Torre and Ansu Fati, not counting Christensen, who has been injured all season.
The youth player has played only 158 minutes spread over 7 games, in which he has not generated any goals or assists. His performance on the pitch is far from what was expected. In addition, his physical problems have kept him away from the group for 82 days since the end of July, which is almost three full months. It is a combination of factors that have led him to play only 7% of the team's total playing time.
For his part, Pablo Torre was one of the sensations, along with Pau Víctor, of the American pre-season tour. The Cantabrian showed that he has the talent to be at Barça and has taken advantage of the playing time he has had, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist. In fact, he generates a goal every 67 minutes. However, his participation is being very low, as Flick gives priority to Olmo and Fermín in his position.
This Saturday, at 7:00 p.m., in Barbastro they could have a golden opportunity. Lamine and Ferran are injured, Olmo and Pau Víctor do not have a contract and Raphinha has not been called up for technical reasons. This makes it very likely that at least one of them will be in the starting eleven and that both will have a chance. Who knows, perhaps this meeting could be a turning point in their respective situations.
