FC Barcelona crushed Betis in the Copa del Rey round of 16 (5-1) on another brutal night for Jules Koundé. The Frenchman completed a perfect first half in which he scored two stunning goals, one of which was disallowed by VAR.

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Jules Koundé confirms in every appearance with FC Barcelona why, at this moment, there is no right-back in the world in better form. Against Real Betis (5-1), the French international was a true dagger in the green and white defense, becoming another threat for a Barça that put Manuel Pellegrini's team under pressure from start to finish.

The Parisian took advantage of the passivity of the 'green and white' setup to position himself in the opponent's half for practically the entire first half. His partnership with Lamine Yamal drove Altimira, Perraud, and Natan himself crazy, as they watched the youth player and the defender easily break through whenever they wanted. In the 27th minute, the Frenchman let a pass from Pedri to Lamine go through, which the '19' turned into a perfect assist for the full-back.

VAR denied Koundé one of the goals of the year

Jules entered the area on the run, finishing with a cross shot past Freites to make it 2-0. Just before halftime, the formula repeated itself, but this time Koundé surprised with a powerful shot that broke the net of the opposing goalkeeper, despite having little angle to shoot. Unfortunately, the semi-automatic VAR indicated that the '23' had the tip of his right foot offside

In the second half, he did not have as much prominence in attack and, towards the end, committed a penalty for stepping on Jesús Rodríguez, which Vitor Roque converted for the Betis consolation goal. Despite this, the Parisian completed another great match after his display in the Clásico, where he 'neutralized' Vinicius Jr. and also provided an assist. Against Betis, the Frenchman completed 33 of 43 passes (77%), with 5 passes in the final third and the same number of clearances and recoveries
