Athletic Club has commented on its participation in the 'Olmo case'. Its president, Jon Uriarte, has categorically denied that the Basque team has been part of a common front of La Liga teams that have acted against FC Barcelona with the aim of pressuring the Spanish Federation and La Liga to prevent the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.

The press conference prior to the semi-final of the Super Cup of Spain between Athletic Bilbao and Barça has largely revolved around the case of Dani Olmo. The president of the Basque team has been firm regarding the registrations of the azulgranas Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, when asked if he would find it unfair if they were ultimately registered.

"This is a matter between FC Barcelona, La Liga, and the Federation, and we have no information and never talk about hypotheses. We are on the sidelines"

In recent weeks, some reports indicated that several La Liga teams had formed a front, including Athletic, to pressure the RFEF and La Liga to prevent the two Barcelona players from being registered: "We are not part of any common front with any other club. When we have had doubts about the regulations, we have asked the relevant bodies. The regulations are common for all and that is what we believe should be complied with".
