Luis de la Fuente has called up Pau Cubarsí as a substitute for Pau Torres in the Spanish national team. The youth player will join the group this Wednesday

Calendar of FC Barcelona

Luis de la Fuente's planning for Spain's matches against Denmark (Friday 15) and Switzerland (Monday 18) in the Nations League suffered a setback. The coach had called up Pau Torres to be part of the Roja squad for the last international break of the year, but the footballer has not been able to travel with the national team.

Through an official statement, the RFEF reported that "the Aston Villa player arrived with muscle discomfort from his match against Liverpool and after the tests carried out by the RFEF Medical Services it is estimated that he will not be ready in time for the last two international matches of the year and in this way any type of risk is avoided"

Pau Cubarsí, the chosen one to replace Torres

For that reason, De la Fuente was forced to look for a substitute for Torres and the chosen one is Pau Cubarsí, as announced by the Federation through a new statement, in which they confirm that the FC Barcelona centre-back "will join the Spanish National Team's concentration this afternoon to play the last two qualifying matches of the UEFA Nations League".

Initially, the Barça youth player had not been called by the coach since he had already forced his participation in the clash against Real Sociedad and needed a break to recover from his facial injuries. In addition, according to sources from the Barça dressing room confirmed to 'MD', the player did not train this Wednesday because he felt unwell, vomiting and dizzy.

However, the urgency of the Spanish national team forced De la Fuente to bring back the Barça defender, who will have to make an extra effort during the last FIFA date of the year, where he will accompany Dani Olmo, Marc Casadó and Pedri as the Barça players who will represent La Roja.
